My first blog post! Yipee!!!
I’m so excited to launch my new blog. I have been working on it for a few months, tweaking it and getting it ready to publish…all the while thinking about what I’d like my first post to say. I thought about posting some of my favorite pics of 2011, to give you an idea of what I’ve been up to this past year. Then something changed my mind….it came in the form of a 60 degree day in the middle of winter, and an outdoor photo shoot.
You see, this session wasn’t for just any family…it was for MY family. Officially. As of two months ago, they went from becoming some of my closest friends to my brother & sister in law. They are amazing parents of two sweet daughters, amazing followers of Christ, and two of the most incredible people I know. But they’ve not had it easy. Nearly three years ago, they found out that their 18 month old daughter was facing brain cancer. Three months ago, she lost her earthly battle, but won her Heavenly one, as she went to be with Jesus.
I’ve learned so much from these two this year. I’ve learned that even through trials, its possible to find joy. I’ve learned that life is precious, that every moment with those you love is sacred. But I’ve also learned that God always sneaks in blessings, even when your world feels like it’s falling apart. This blessing comes in the form of a sweet baby, one that will never replace the life we lost, but one that will carve its own unique spot in our hearts and fill it with joy.
So…here’s to 2012.
A new blog, a new baby…a new beginning.
We took full advantage of the day, and took an opportunity to grab a shot of 5 of my closest friends. Even though we’re not all related by blood, we are FAMILY. We’ve walked through a lot of life together, and continue to grow closer as the years go by. I’m beyond blessed by their lives and incredibly thankful for what they mean to me…what we mean to each other. Love this photograph. Love these people.
