On March 12, 2012 at 1:27 p.m, my nephew Micah Nathan Moore was born.
He entered the world, a perfect 7 pounds, 19 inches long. I was privileged enough to get to be in the room when he was born and I was blown away at the miracle of it all. It was one of the most beautiful, emotional, joyous experiences of my life; one that I will never forget. Tears were shed, smiles were shared, shouts of joy were expressed…all at the sound of that sweet cry…and all at the mercy of a great God who never forgets when we need Him most.
All stories have bittersweet parts to them…and this one does as well. To understand this completely, you have to journey back a bit…to a time that was not nearly as joyous for our family. Almost six months ago, Micah lost his older sister Marley, to brain cancer. She would have been four years old this past January. We miss her beautiful smile, incredible charm, and spunky personality every moment of every day. A few months after she passed away, Nikki began the difficult job of cleaning out Marley’s room and organizing her belongings. Because their house only had a few bedrooms, this room would become the new nursery.
You see, a few months prior, Brent & Nikki had made the decision to wait until the baby was born to find out whether it was a boy or a girl. Without knowing the sex of the baby, they were unable to decorate the nursery…but this is where God stepped in. One of our closest friends approached Nikki, sharing her desire to help create a nursery of their dreams for this new baby. After much thought, Nikki chose to allow the doctor to let our dear friend Natalie in on the sex of the baby. Natalie gathered help from her friend Becky and they got to work. They quickly organized funds as well as man-power, in hopes to “extreme home makeover” the baby room once Nikki went into the hospital. The plan was to take a completely bare room and create a beautiful nursery in under 48 hours…
…and when Brent & Nikki carried their sweet baby home just two short days later, this is what they saw…
The name Micah means “a gift from God”…and he most definitely IS our gift from God. In his two short weeks of life, he has absolutely stolen our hearts. Just like his two older sisters, there is something incredibly special about him, something beautiful & sweet.
I can’t wait to see him grow up and fulfill God’s amazing purposes for Him.
But in the meantime, I think we might be forced to spoil him just a little bit…and take lots of pictures.
